Carnegie Science Center’s Advancement

PUBLICATION DESIGN & EVENT MARKETING

Celebrating science and securing its ever-growing importance for our future.

As a true interactive museum for all ages, Carnegie Science Center delights and educates by connecting science and technology with everyday life. The institutional advancement office directs initiatives to gather support from corporations, foundations, and individuals.

Below are materials to commemorate monumental moments for the museum.

PPG Science Pavilion’s Grand Opening Invitation

In thanks to PPG Industries and other generous donors, the Carnegie Science Center (CSC) was able to construct a monumental 40,000 square ft. addition to the museum! The brand-centric invitation to the celebratory opening party is a glimmering “sky” of confetti. The front cover pattern of constellation bits, blocks, and hexagons softly yet excitingly symbolize the great collision of scientific topics present within the Science Center. The light blue hue (a call-back to the SPARK! Campaign identity below) displayed in shining foil is a refreshing complement to the charged flood of CSC red.

2017 Spark! Campaign Report

Soon after starting at Carnegie Science Center, I was charged with composing their summary report of the capital campaign SPARK! The coffee-table style book displays the museum’s completed/to be completed epic enhancements, as well as the story of the sincere dedication of the campaign leaders and generous donors.

Balancing a limited production budget, I campaigned for a soft touch “coating” to be applied on the front cover — enhancing the tactile appeal and providing a smooth contrast to the glossy interior.

Carnegie Science Awards Invitation

The Carnegie Science Awards is an annual event showcasing the tremendous innovation within Pittsburgh’s STEM-related industries. The invited audience are the leaders of the science and technology communities. The 3-part ask for the invitation was to portray a heightened professionalism, to think outside-the-box in the presentation, and to maintain Carnegie Science Center’s key identity.

The wordmark for the event includes an arrow tip. This portion is well-contained and perfectly covered via a custom pocket with an inverted peak. I sourced a stylish “tech weave” textured paper for the pocket — a smart contrast in both appearance and feel from the sheen of the card.
